Helmond pilot site.

The motivation of the Helmond pilot site is to improve mobility and safety in Helmond through connected vehicle technologies.
This objective is directly aligned with the “Helmond Mobiel” mobility policy, which has several objectives among which :
- Improving mobility and accessibility in general
- Leading to a sustainable, clean and efficient transport
- Innovative traffic management
- Improving road safety and vulnerable road users protection
The priorities of the C-The Difference Helmond app are amongst these:
Emergency Vehicle Approaching
The app notifies the user that an emergency vehicle is near to his position even if he does not see or hear it yet, which allows him to adapt his driving.
Road Works Warning
Warn the user of road works on his near itinerary, allowing him to adapt his speed.
Green Light Optimal Speed Advisory (GLOSA)
Notifies the user that there is an intersection with traffic lights in front of him, the app shows him the number of lanes, the direction(s) available for each of the lanes, as well as the state of the light for each lane. If the light is red but turning green soon, the app will advise the driver to slow down in order to get to the intersection at the moment when the light will turn green.
Signal violation / Intersection Safety
The app might notify the user that he is about to go through the red light, a notification is also sent to the other users on the intersection to tell them that a dangerous behavior has been spotted near to their position.
